'77
Premieres at the Hamptons International Film Festival
On October 17 and 18, '77 made its world premiere. The film was a near sellout the first night, and, thanks to word-of-mouth publicity, was a complete sellout the next day. Before each screening, director Patrick Read Johnson was introduced to say a few words. After the film he was called up again to take questions and introduce members of the cast and crew in attendance. Also in the crowd were very special guests, Mr. Douglas Trumbull and family, and Mr. Herb Lightman. Both gentlemen are close friends of director Johnson, and are portrayed as characters in this real life, heart warming film.
All in attendance were treated to Mr. Lightman's first hand account of the events played out on screen by actors John Francis Daley (Pat Johnson) and Austin Pendleton as Herb Lightman. There was not a dry eye in the theater when a choked up Mr. Lightman expressed how proud he is of Patrick. At the award ceremony, '77 was presented with The Hampton International Film Festival's Heineken Red Star Award. Patrick Read Johnson and all the cast and crew who made it to the festival would like to thank all those who came to see '77, and especially for the kind and enthusiastic feedback!
